While browsing Pinterest a few days ago looking for an Easter project. I saw some cute bunny signs using pallet wood. It didn’t appear to be too difficult so I went to Hobby Lobby to buy my supplies and try my hand at it.
The original instructions for this project are from Diva of DIY’s website and can be found here: http://divaofdiy.com/easter-decorations-rustic-bunny-sign/
Supplies I used:
- Acrylic paint
- Hot glue gun and glue
I painted each board a different pastel color and then let it air dry for an hour.
I tried to free hand paint a rabbit shape in white. Not gonna lie: it sucked, I got mad, and then I painted over it with the original pastel colors.
Next, I folded and 8 1/2 × 11 sheet of paper in half lengthwise and cut out half a bunny shape, similar to how you would cut a heart from a folded piece of paper. I lightly traced the bunny on to the wood with a pencil. I then painted the bunny white and let it dry.
I used the sandpaper to rub lightly over the wood, pressing slightly harder around the edges to make a worn or “rustic” look. Using a cloth, I wiped off the sign to remove any paint particles loosened by sanding. Finally I used the hot glue gun to attach a ribbon to the bunny.
Are you working on any Easter crafts? If so, I would love to hear about them!
